Lots of worked problems & the book serves as a great reference for conceptual items that you might not pick up in school, such as “projected†loadings, diaphragm shear & miscellaneous ASCE code requirements. In addition, many of the concepts taught in this book can translate over to steel design, cold-formed metal, etc. I’d highly recommend this book to anyone, especially entry-level engineers just getting started in the world of structural design!
Used it to assist in design of a new roof for a house. So far, was able to take sample problems with solutions for fastener/connection design,create spreadsheets based on them, and verify solutions before plugging in numbers for my application. I expect it to be a valuable reference.
Excellent Book, is a Superb resource of information for those with no experience at all on Wood Structures.

TEXT AND EQUATIONS IN THIS BOOK ARE GARBLED AND IN SEVERAL CASES COMPLETELY UNDECIPHERABLE. HAD I KNOWN THIS I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED THIS BOOK. SHAME ON AMAZON FOR SELLING BOOKS THEY HAVE NOT PROOFED BEFORE PUBLISHING ELECTRONICALLY.
