Rather happy with the writing. Very professional for high school students, and a good reflection upon them & their advisors. The stories about the attack on Stoneman Douglas and the aftermath both to the school and the newsroom are written well enough to bring the reader into the stories.I also appreciate the lack of pontificating or taking sides about how to resolve gun violence. But rather the behind the scenes stuff that makes this book truly historical. However, I feel a need to dock a star. The stories went back and forth and did not seem to this reader to have a particular order. This made reading them difficult at times.

This journalistic collection is both heartbreaking and empowering all at the same time. The student journalists at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida show the strength of their voices as they tell stories about the tragic shooting that happened in their community. This book shows how vital journalism is for shining light in the darkness and how important teachers are for encouraging young citizens to speak up. A must-read.

I bought this as a gift for my 14 year old stepdaughter. She started reading it during opening presents at Christmas, and was engrossed in it.Disclaimer: I've not read this myself yet.

I love that the students and teachers voices are finally heard and not the politicians! This is a powerful book! Melissa Falkowski and Eric Garner are excellent examples of caring, compassionate teachers.

Raw, Beautiful, Inspiring!!!!

Melissa Falkowski encourages her students to "be the change they wish to see in the world" while Eric Garner encourages them to "listen to their hearts." A powerful compilation and call to arms from the teachers and teens who are going to make our world a better place. Read the first chapter - you will be moved, enthralled and motivated.

Powerful, inspirational, important.

These essays are deeply moving.
